A wake-up call can help on an early departure day, but travellers should not rely on a single hotel system. Telephone problems, power interruptions or a missed request can turn a simple morning into a rushed airport transfer.
Request the call directly
Ask reception for the wake-up call in person and repeat the room number, date and exact time. Confirm whether the time is local and whether the call is automatic or made by staff.
Use at least one backup alarm
Set an alarm on a phone, watch or travel clock. Keep the device charged and verify that airplane mode, silent mode or battery-saving settings will not block the alarm. For charging precautions, see our guide to electricity at Cuba resorts.
Prepare the night before
- Pack most luggage before sleeping.
- Keep passports, tickets and transfer details together.
- Set aside clothing for departure.
- Check the room safe and charging outlets.
- Confirm the airport-transfer pickup point.
Allow time for checkout
Reception may be busy when several buses leave at once. Leave enough time to return keys, settle charges and retrieve stored luggage. Our checkout and luggage-storage guide explains how to organize the final day.
If the wake-up call never arrives
Use your backup alarm and contact reception as soon as possible. If the missed call creates a serious delay, document the time and speak with the front desk before leaving. Do not wait until the airport to report a hotel problem.
A wake-up call is useful, but a charged phone, packed luggage and confirmed transfer time are the real safeguards. On departure morning, redundancy beats optimism.
