Cuba Entry Requirements: Documents, eVisa, D’Viajeros and Insurance

Travelling to Cuba requires more than a passport. Before departure, check the documents required for your nationality, your airline, your route and any country used for a connection.

Cuba entry checklist

• A passport valid for the full trip and accepted by your airline.
• A Cuban visa or eVisa when required.
• A completed D’Viajeros form and the QR code generated by the official portal.
• Proof of travel medical insurance accepted for Cuba.
• Return or onward travel documents when requested.
• The address of your hotel, resort or casa particular.

Passport and airline checks

Entry rules and airline boarding rules are not always identical. Verify both before travelling, especially when your itinerary includes a connection outside Canada.

Cuba eVisa

The Cuban eVisa is separate from D’Viajeros. Keep the code issued with your visa and use the same passport for the visa, the D’Viajeros form and the trip.

D’Viajeros combines immigration, customs and health information. Complete it within the period accepted by the official portal, review every field and save the QR code offline.

Travel medical insurance

Cuba may request proof of travel medical insurance. Carry a policy certificate and emergency contact details in a format that can be viewed without internet access.

Travelling through another country

A connection can add transit, visa or authorization requirements. Check the rules for every country on the itinerary, including the return trip.

Arrival preparation

• Save all documents on your phone and on paper.
• Store the hotel or accommodation address offline.
• Keep emergency insurance numbers available.
• Prepare cash and a backup payment plan.
• Download maps before the flight.
