The front desk is usually the first place to report a problem at a Cuba resort, but a clear request is more effective than repeating a vague complaint. Staff may be managing several issues at once, language differences can create confusion, and some repairs require another department.
Describe the problem precisely
State the room number, the exact problem, when it began and how it affects the stay. Instead of saying that the room is bad, explain whether the air conditioner does not cool, the toilet does not flush, the door lock fails or water is entering the room.
Photos or a short video can help document intermittent problems. Keep the explanation factual and avoid deleting the evidence until the matter is resolved.
Use a simple written request
Write the request in short sentences and include the room number. A translation app can help, but download Spanish language support before travelling in case the internet is unavailable.
Ask the employee to repeat the solution or write down the expected next step. This reduces misunderstandings about whether maintenance, housekeeping, security or a supervisor has been contacted.
Record names and times
Note when the problem was reported, the name or position of the employee and what was promised. This is useful when another shift takes over or when the same issue must be escalated later.
Remain polite but specific. A written timeline is generally more useful than an emotional argument at the desk.
Allow reasonable access for repairs
Maintenance staff may need to enter the room. Remove valuables, ask when the visit is expected and decide whether someone from the group should remain present. After the repair, test the equipment before considering the issue closed.
Escalate unresolved problems
If the first request produces no result, return with the original details and ask for the front desk supervisor, guest services representative or hotel management. For a package holiday, the tour operator representative may also need to document the complaint.
Ask for practical remedies that match the problem, such as a repair, replacement item, room inspection or room change. Compensation should not replace an urgent safety or sanitation solution.
Keep proof for a later claim
Save photos, written messages, receipts and any incident report. If the problem affects health, safety or a major part of the holiday, contact the tour operator or insurer while still at the resort whenever possible.
