This guide has been consolidated. Read the complete updated guide: Air Conditioning at Cuba Resorts.
Quick answer: Test the air conditioning as soon as you enter your room. If it does not cool properly, report it immediately and request a room change before unpacking.
Check the system at arrival
- Close balcony doors and windows.
- Set the thermostat to cooling mode.
- Lower the temperature and wait 15 to 30 minutes.
- Check for airflow, unusual noise, leaks and unpleasant odours.
Common problems
| Problem | Possible response |
|---|---|
| Weak airflow | Check settings, doors and filters; report it if cooling remains poor. |
| No power | Confirm whether the room or entire building is affected. |
| Water leaking | Move luggage and electronics, then contact maintenance. |
| Unit shuts off | Some systems stop when balcony doors open or key cards are removed. |
Power outages and air conditioning
During an electricity interruption, room air conditioning may stop even when some hotel services continue on generator power. Keep curtains closed, reduce heat entering the room and avoid opening the balcony door unnecessarily.
Do not wait: A room that is uncomfortable in the afternoon may become much harder to sleep in overnight. Report problems early while replacement rooms may still be available.
Useful backup items
- Light sleepwear
- A rechargeable fan
- A power bank
- Electrolyte packets
- Earplugs if windows must remain open
