Travelling to a Cuba resort with a baby requires more preparation than a typical adult vacation. Diapers, formula, baby food, medication and familiar hygiene products may be difficult to replace locally, so parents should pack enough for the entire stay and add a reasonable emergency reserve.
Bring essential baby supplies from home
Do not depend on finding your preferred brand, size or formula after arrival. Pack diapers, wipes, diaper cream, formula, bottles, sterilizing supplies, baby food, spoons, bibs and any specialized products your child uses regularly.
Divide critical supplies between checked luggage and carry-on baggage. A delayed suitcase should not leave the family without formula, diapers or medication for the first day.
Ask the resort about cribs before departure
Some Cuba resorts can provide a crib or playpen, but availability, mattress style and condition may vary. Contact the hotel or tour operator before travel and request written confirmation when possible.
After check-in, inspect the crib before use. Check stability, mattress fit, clean bedding and the surrounding area. If anything feels unsafe, request a replacement or use the sleeping arrangement you prepared as a backup.
Prepare for feeding and bottle cleaning
Bring enough bottles to avoid constant washing. Pack a bottle brush, small container of dish soap, sterilizing tablets or another method recommended for your equipment. Use safe water for preparing formula and cleaning feeding items.
Parents should also carry snacks and age-appropriate foods for travel days. Airport transfers, check-in delays and changing restaurant hours can make meal timing unpredictable.
Pack for heat and sun
Cuba’s heat can be demanding for babies and toddlers. Bring lightweight clothing, a sun hat, stroller shade, child-safe sunscreen and a reusable water plan appropriate for the child’s age. Schedule outdoor activities earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon and use shaded areas whenever possible.
Do not forget medication
Bring all prescribed medication in its original packaging, along with common child-care items recommended by your health professional. Parents often pack a thermometer, oral rehydration solution, fever medication, saline solution, bandages and insect-bite care.
Carry a copy of prescriptions and travel-insurance information. Resort clinics may help with assessment, but product availability can be limited.
Strollers, carriers and room location
A compact stroller can be useful in large resorts, but paths, stairs and elevators may not always be convenient. A baby carrier offers a practical backup. Families should also request a room near essential services when walking distance is a concern.
