How to write a Cuban postal address correctly
“Varadero, Cuba” is not enough for a parcel or delivery. Ask the recipient to write every line exactly as used locally.
Information to request

| Calle or Avenida and number | Forms the core of the address. |
| Cross streets | Very useful where numbering is difficult. |

| Municipality and province | Do not infer them; copy what the recipient confirms. |
| Postal code | Confirm it for the exact address. |
| Phone and landmark | Helpful for private delivery, but not a replacement for the address. |

Varadero is not Santa Marta
A person may say they live “near Varadero” while the correct address uses Santa Marta, Boca de Camarioca or Cárdenas. Keep the exact locality, municipality and postal code supplied by the recipient.
Postal mail versus private delivery
A cargo or local delivery company may request GPS coordinates, a phone number or a landmark. Those details help the driver, but a postal shipment still needs a complete written address.
Common mistakes
- Writing only “Varadero, Cuba.”
- Removing cross streets.
- Replacing Santa Marta with Varadero.
- Using a nickname instead of the recipient’s full name.
- Guessing a municipality or postal code.
- Assuming a hotel will accept a parcel for an employee.
