Ants, cockroaches and other insects can enter tropical resort rooms through doors, balconies, drains or gaps around fixtures. Heat, humidity and food residue make prevention especially important.
Prevent insects in the room
Keep snacks, sugar and fruit in closed containers or bags.
Use the luggage rack and keep suitcases closed when possible.
Sweet drinks, cans and plates can attract insects overnight.
Where to inspect
- around the balcony and entrance doors;
- near bathroom drains and plumbing;
- behind or beside the minibar;
- along baseboards and under the luggage rack;
- inside shoes and toiletry bags before packing.
How to report the problem
Take a clear photo when possible and tell staff where and when the insects appeared. Request cleaning, maintenance or pest treatment. If activity continues afterward, ask for a room inspection or another room.
Before checking out
Inspect luggage, shoes and toiletry bags. Keep suspect clothing separate until it can be washed. This simple check avoids bringing an unwanted Cuban souvenir home.
