Cuba Resort Room Safety: What to Check After Arrival

A quick room inspection after check-in can prevent avoidable problems during a Cuba resort stay. Check essential safety, security and comfort items before unpacking fully.

Inspect the room before settling in

• Confirm the main door closes and locks correctly.
• Test the balcony or patio door and any secondary lock.
• Check that windows close securely.
• Locate the room safe and test it before storing valuables.
• Confirm the telephone works or identify another way to contact reception.
• Look for visible water leaks, damaged electrical outlets or exposed wiring.

Report serious problems immediately and request another room when a security issue cannot be corrected promptly.

Check the balcony carefully

Families should inspect balcony railings, gaps, furniture placement and door locks. Move chairs or tables away from railings when children are present, and keep the balcony door locked when it is not being used.

Test essential services

Check the air conditioning, lights, water pressure, toilet and electrical outlets early. Service interruptions can occur, but reception should still be informed when a problem appears limited to one room.

Keep shoes, a small flashlight, your phone and essential medication where they can be reached quickly at night.
