Travelling to Cuba with osteoporosis can be manageable, but uneven walkways, wet pool decks, stairs, rushed transfers and limited access to familiar medical supplies make fall prevention especially important.
Bring medication and records from home
Pack enough prescribed medication for the full trip plus a reasonable reserve. Keep it in original labelled containers and carry a medication list, relevant medical summary and insurance information.
- Keep essential medicine in your carry-on.
- Confirm storage instructions for injectable or temperature-sensitive treatment.
- Do not assume your usual product will be available locally.
- Bring any prescribed brace, cane or mobility aid.
Reduce fall risks at the resort
Request a room near an elevator or on a lower floor when appropriate. Wear stable footwear with good grip, use handrails and avoid poorly lit paths. Take extra care around wet tiles, curbs, beach access points and uneven pavement.
Plan excursions carefully
Before booking, ask about walking distance, stairs, road conditions, restroom access and whether seating is available. A long excursion may be unsuitable during severe pain, fatigue or poor balance.
What to do after a fall
Do not continue walking on a painful limb after a significant fall. Seek medical assessment for severe pain, deformity, inability to bear weight, head impact, new numbness or breathing difficulty.
