CANADA TO CUBA
Send a package to Cuba from Canada: customs and delivery checks
A parcel can help with specific, non-urgent items, but address quality, customs, restrictions and delivery delays must be checked before paying.
Can Canada Post ship a package to Cuba?
Yes, currently. Canada Post’s international service-availability table lists Parcels (Air) and Parcels (Surface) to Cuba as available, while Priority Worldwide is listed as unavailable. Service availability can change, so verify Cuba again immediately before mailing.
Canada Post customs and address rules
- International shipments leaving Canada require the proper customs documentation for the service, contents and destination.
- Describe the contents accurately rather than writing only “gift.” Include quantities and values.
- Canada Post says the destination country name must be written in full on the last line of an international address. For this shipment, the final line should be CUBA.
- Include the recipient’s full address and contact information and keep your receipt and tracking details.

Before preparing the box
- Confirm the exact city, municipality, province and postal code.
- Ask the recipient to write the address as used locally.
- Check current destination availability and service alerts.
- Calculate the rate using the final weight and dimensions.
- Review Canadian and Cuban restrictions for every item.
- Confirm that the recipient can receive or collect the package.
Items that require extra caution
- Liquids, aerosols and flammable products.
- Batteries and power equipment.
- Medication without clear original packaging.
- Cash or high-value objects.
- Perishable food.
- Anything difficult to describe on a customs form.
Customs description
Avoid a vague description such as “gifts.” Use simple item descriptions, quantities and values. Keep a photo and written list of the contents, receipt and tracking number.
