Cuba introduces new electronic visa system for tourism
From May 6 to June 30, Cuba will implement a new electronic visa system for tourism, which will replace the current tourist card, announced Juan Carlos Garcia Granda, Cuban Minister of the Sector, during the inauguration of the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Fair (FitCuba 2024).
He added that this system will be implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Immigration and Foreigners, and will allow tour operators and end users to manage their application in a simple way, from any location. which device is connected to the Internet.
The head of government recalled that the development of tourism in Cuba is hampered by the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States government. The proof is that Cuba is the only country in the world where citizens of the United States, the main tourism market in the Caribbean, do not have the right to freely travel to Cuba as tourists.
However, he added, the Island has quality tourism infrastructure, with all services and destinations in operation, with accelerated recovery and highly qualified human capital.
Also in the presence of the Prime Minister, the hotel chains Melia Hotels International and MGM Muthu Hotels & Resorts signed a commercial agreement with the Cuban companies Gran Caribe and Cubanacan SA, respectively, for the management and marketing of infrastructure.
