Theoretically yes.
The water in restaurants and bars in Varadero hotels is filtered and can therefore be drunk without any problem, at least for the vast majority of people.
The water available in the rooms and in town is considered drinkable. Many of the members who stay in casas will tell you that they have never had a problem drinking this water.
However, water can contain bacteria that our immune systems are not "accustomed to". It's not that they are necessarily dangerous, but they are not "recognized" and our immune system will not want to take a chance and will go into defense mode, hence "diarrhea" type reactions. This is not necessarily "traveler's diarrhea" (see link below), but rather a simple reaction of our immune system. Personally, this happened to me more often in France than in Cuba.
To avoid taking any chances and risking "ruining" your holiday due to unpleasant problems, do not hesitate to opt for bottled water if you leave your resort. Prevention is better than cure!
What should I do in my case?
If you know that you are "fragile" and that you regularly have gastric problems, consult a health professional. They are best placed to give you relevant advice based on YOUR reality.
Either way, it is always recommended to bring with you a good medical kit that includes everything you need for different gastric problems. Remember that some medications, even the easiest to find here for us, may not be available or very expensive in Varadero.
